Advanced Training

Advanced Training programs are offered after-school and on weekends for motivated students who want to continue learning with NDI New Mexico after their in-school classes. They learn advanced choreography, tap, jazz and voice. SWAT and Celebration Teams are offered in Santa Fe, Northern New Mexico (Espanola), Albuquerque, Silver City, and Socorro. SWAT Teams are offered in Dulce, Magdalena, Roswell and Shiprock. Team classes are offered free of charge. An XCel Team for high school students is offered in Albuquerque.

Students in Santa Fe who graduate from the Celebration Team can continue their NDI New Mexico training through the The Dance Barns and may have the opportunity to join one of The Dance Barns pre-professional companies.

SWAT (Super Wonderful Advanced Team)

• Is designed for kids who excel in the in-school program and show extra enthusiasm in dance;
• Targets children in grades 4 through 6;
• Is designed for children who demonstrate the coordination to learn challenging choreography;
• Children invited to join the team have shown role model behavior (appropriate behavior during rehearsals, concentration, energy, excellence);
• Is the glue that holds the end-of-year/program performances together;
• Provides a well-rounded theatrical experience to students;
• Teaches Beginning Jazz and Beginning Tap Technique and Voice;
• Provides the opportunity to improve dancing and performing skills; and
• Provides the opportunity to further develop life skills: discipline, teamwork, standard of excellence, & self confidence.

Celebration Team

• Is designed for graduating SWAT dancers who have excelled in SWAT;
• Targets children in grades 7 through 9;
• Dancers invited to join the team have shown role model behavior (appropriate behavior during rehearsals, responsibility backstage, concentration, energy, excellence);
• Is the glue that holds the end-of-year/program performances together;
• Provides a well-rounded theatrical experience to students;
• Teaches Intermediate Jazz and Intermediate Tap Technique and Voice;
• Provides the opportunity to improve dancing and performing skills; and
• Provides the opportunity to further develop life skills: discipline, teamwork, standard of excellence, & self confidence.

Company XCel
