Board

Jerry Landgraf, Chair
Jerry has been a resident of New Mexico since 1987 when he moved here to develop and provide administrative support to Health Plus of New Mexico for Presbyterian and St Joseph Hospitals, which became Presbyterian Health Plan. Until being acquired by Molina HealthCare, Inc. in 2004, Jerry was the President of Health Care Horizons, the parent company of Cimarron Health Plan; an HMO, and HCH Administration, a TPA or third party administrator both headquartered in Albuquerque. He was the President of HealthPlus of Michigan, from its inception in 1979 through December 1986. During his career, he developed HMOs in Michigan, Puerto Rico and New Mexico and been involved in health care for over 30 years.

Mr. Landgraf is a graduate of Iowa State University and received his MBA degree from the University of North Florida. He is a past chairman and director of the American Medical Care and Review Association and served on the board of American Health Insurance Plans, a national association representing the majority of American health insurance companies and managed health care organizations. Jerry and his wife Barbara have four children, two living in Albuquerque and two in Maryland.

Beth M. Moise, Vice-Chair
Beth Moise is the President of Beth Moise International (“BMI”). BMI is a global organizational consulting practice dedicated to building dynamic business environments with high performing teams. Beth has her Ph.D. in organizational development and experience as a global executive, executive coach, organizational strategy, mergers & acquisitions, cultural diversity and strategic leadership. Beth sits on the Advisory Board of Bio Veritas and is a Board Member with the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival, Samaritan Counseling Center and Albuquerque Community Foundation.

Leslie Nathanson Juris, Secretary
Leslie Nathanson grew up in a family business, where she learned the value of family and the clear need to align the needs of the individuals, the family and the business. Ms. Nathanson has a Ph.D. in organization behavior and over the last 25 years has developed a consulting practice that focuses on understanding strategic goals, implementing strategy, and managing complex organizational change. She works with executives and their teams to develop structures, cultures and practices that improve performance. Over her career Ms. Nathanson has advised executives of both publicly and privately held companies in a broad range of industries, including universities, consumer products, finance, professional services, manufacturing, and newspapers. She has special background and enjoyment in helping executives navigate the challenges of corporate leadership. She continues to work with corporate executives who are leading changing enterprises and families who are transitioning from one generation to another to help articulate and implement competitive strategies and practices. In addition to NDI-NM, Leslie sits on the Boards of Creativity for Peace here in New Mexico and the Boards of Ameristar, Inc. and Chas. Levy Companies.

Charles W.N. Thompson, Treasurer
Mr. Thompson received his J.D. degree in 1976 from Kansas University School of Law and his LL.M degree in Taxation in 1980 from New York University School of Law. He resides in Santa Fe where he is a lawyer in private practice. The areas of law in which he concentrates are commercial transactions, securities, and the representation of corporations and other business entities. Apart from his law practice, he enjoys skiing, cycling, martial arts, and the study of history.

Nancy Blaugrund, Board Member
Nancy has been volunteering for years, mostly with arts organizations. She is a past president of the New Mexico Symphony Guild and continues to volunteer for the Symphony. She is a past board member of the Albuquerque Museum Foundation and was also a docent at the Museum for eleven years. She just completed serving six years on the Volunteer Council, a national committee of the League of American Orchestras.

Nancy is a native of Albuquerque. She is married to Cliff Blaugrund and they have two children: son Jeff Blaugrund lives in New York and daughter Leslie Kim lives in Albuquerque with her husband David and their two girls, Sophie and Lily.

Julia “Julie” Bowdich, Board Member
Currently lives in Albuquerque where she works with her father at their real estate investment firm, Cinco Bisco Limited Partnership. Julie started her working life with what was then, Albuquerque National Bank and seven years later left to work at Rust Tractor Co. The dealership sold in September 2002. Julie has been involved with the NM Natural History and Sciences Foundation Board and also the Albuquerque Museum Foundation Board. She is currently serving her first term on the Samaritan Counseling Center Foundation Board and the Albuquerque Community Foundation Board. She served as past chair for the last four years of the Presbyterian Healthcare Foundation Board and has been a board member for the past fifteen years. She is also a member of the PHS Central New Mexico Community Board and a member of the Medical Executive Committee. Julie is also a member of the Rotary Club of Albuquerque.

Jenne K. Britell, Ph.D., Board Member
Dr. Britell is a Senior Managing Director of Brock Capital, LLC. She is Chairman of the Board of United Rentals, Inc., the world’s largest equipment rental Company. She is also a director of Crown Holdings, Inc., Quest Diagnostics, Inc., the U.S. Russia Investment Fund and the U.S. Russia Foundation for Entrepreneurship and the Rule of law. Dr. Britell has just been named one of six Outstanding Directors of public companies for 2011 by the Outstanding Directors Exchange (ODX), a division of the Financial Times.

Dr. Britell is a former senior executive of GE Capital. At GE Capital, until March 2000, she served as the Executive Vice President of Global Consumer Finance and President of Global Mortgage and Commercial Banking. Previously, she was President and CEO of GE Capital, Central and Eastern Europe. Based in Vienna, she had responsibility for the GE Capital consumer and commercial banking businesses in the region, as well as in Austria and Switzerland, and for the consumer finance business in Germany. Prior to that, as President and CEO, she led the turnaround of GE Capital Mortgage Services.

From 1993-1996, she was Executive Vice President, Chief Lending Officer, and General Manager, Mortgage Banking, of Dime Bancorp, where she led the turnaround of the Dime’s mortgage business, among other efforts. From 1990-1993, as Chairman and CEO of HomePower, Inc., she was a senior advisor to many national and international corporations, including Chase, Dime, MONY, the Central European Development Corp., the Polish-American Enterprise Fund and the World Bank. She was also the founding Chairman and CEO of the Polish-American Mortgage Bank, in Warsaw, Poland. Previously, Dr. Britell held senior positions at Citicorp and Republic New York Corporation (now HSBC).

Dr. Britell was formerly Senior Advisor to eBay and PayPal for Financial Services, a director of Lincoln National Corporation and of West Pharmaceutical Services, Inc., lead director of Aames Investment Corporation, and a trustee of TIAA-CREF, of the Brooklyn Academy of Music, of the New York City Housing Partnership, and of William Paterson University, and a charter member of the US Department of Defense Advisory Committee on Military Personnel Testing.

She received her B.A., with honors, and M.A. from Harvard University and her M.S. (business administration) and Ph.D. from Columbia University.

Louise Campbell-Tolber, Board Member
Ms. Campbell-Tolber is currently a financial consultant with AXA-Equitable. She holds a degree from University of New Mexico and designations of CLU (Chartered Life Underwriter) and ChFC (Chartered Financial Consultant). She sits on NDI New Mexico’s Public Funding Committee and is involved in many civic and professional organizations. She is the past president and board member of the Albuquerque Museum Foundation, past chair and current board member of the UNM Hospital Board of Trustees, member of the Blue Cross Blue Shield Consumer Markets Advisory Board and member of the New Mexico Estate Planning Council. Her and her husband, Dr. Steven Tolber, have resided in Corrales, NM since 1965.

Michael D'Alfonso, Board Member
A resident of Santa Fe since 1989 and a Realtor since 1994, Mr. D'Alfonso is currently with Barker Realty. He received a B.S. from Northern Illinois University and attended graduate school at Roosevelt University in Chicago. Previous positions include Sales Manager for Computype, Chicago; and Legal Market Specialist for Harris/Lanier Corp., Chicago. Mr. D'Alfonso has also been active in the arts as a dancer and has produced musicals and dramatic theater in Chicago and Santa Fe. He has served on the Board of Directors of Philos Learning Center, and Aspen Santa Fe Ballet. He is an avid supporter of Big Brothers/Big Sisters, as well as coaches Little League and Hockey in Santa Fe. In addition, since 1996, Michael has been volunteering his Saturdays with NDI-NM's SWAT (Super Wonderful Advanced Team) as a dance instructor.

Jacques d'Amboise, Co-Founder/Life-long Board Member
Founder and Director of National Dance Institute (NDI), Mr. d'Amboise is recognized as one of the finest classical dancers of our time. Mr. d'Amboise began his classical training at the age of eight at the School of American Ballet, studying with George Balanchine. At age twelve, he was asked to perform with Ballet Society, the immediate predecessor to New York City Ballet (NYCB). Three years later he joined NYCB. In 1976, while still a principal dancer with New York City Ballet, Mr. d'Amboise founded National Dance Institute.

Michael Daly, Board Member
Michael is a First Vice President and Wealth Advisor with Morgan Stanley Smith Barney. He has been with the company for 16 years. Michael has been recognized as the top 10% of all financial advisors in the firm (President’s Club member). He is a Charter member of the discretionary portfolio management program. Managing over $50MM on a discretionary basis utilizing individual equity securities, exchange traded funds, mutual funds, fixed income securities, alternative strategies and structured products. He has developed processes and practices to maintain a client retention rate of 97% with over $230 MM in assets under management.

Michael established the systemization and promotion of the United Way of Central New Mexico charitable stock program; increasing stock donation by 100%. He also established an all women’s program for local Nancy Floyd Hayworth Breast Cancer Awareness Foundation, raising $12,000 for the organization; the largest producer of fixed income solutions in the western region.

Prior to leading Morgan Stanley Smith Barney’s wealth Management group, he held a position with Garmin International as a financial analyst from 1992-1994.

Michael holds professional designations in Estate Planning, Wealth Advisor, Health and Life Insurance (licenses series 7, 61, 65 and 31). Michael holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business with an accounting major from University of Connecticut. He completed postgraduate work in Finance from the University of Arizona.

Michael is a former board member of many organizations including the American Red Cross, Animal Humane Society, Big Brothers/Big Sisters and Albuquerque Museum Foundation. He volunteers as a baseball coach for Big Brothers/Big Sisters and guest lecturers for the Anderson School of Management at the University of New Mexico. Michael established a financial gift program for high school seniors of local private schools in the Albuquerque community. He also prepares script and voice for weekly radio programs.

Cynthia Delgado, Board Member
A native of Santa Fe, New Mexico, Ms. Delgado is President of Pinnacle Consulting, a marketing consulting company. Pinnacle Consulting provides marketing strategies, community outreach, presentation development and marketing research for nonprofit and for-profit companies. Ms. Delgado worked with AT&T and Pricewaterhouse Coopers, LLP for over 20 years in the areas of business development, marketing, and management. She received her B.A. from New Mexico State University and an M.B.A. from the College of Santa Fe. She is a member of the New Mexico Cancer Council and a Board member of Presbyterian Health Service. Ms. Delgado enjoys skiing, cooking, traveling and gardening.

Valerie Diker, Board Member/ Founding Chairman
A resident of New York City, Mrs. Diker is a dancer, mother, philanthropist, author and a graduate of Smith College. She and her husband are founding co-chairs of the Smithsonian's National Museum of the American Indian in New York City. She is also a member of the International Advisory Council of the Smithsonian's NMIA in Washington DC. Mrs. Diker is a Trustee of National Dance Institute-New York, and the National Jewish Outreach Program. She has also served as Chairman of the Twyla Tharp Dance Foundation, Trustee for the American Ballet Theatre, and Chairman in charge of major gifts for the Harvard College Parents Fund, and was a founding member of the National Board of the Santa Fe Opera. She is a former member of the Alvin Nikolais Dance Company, and is the author of Journey to the Heart, a book of poetry, published in 1992. Recently, Governor Richardson has appointed her to the Commission on the Humanities of New Mexico.

James Goodwin, Board Member
Jim is a retired Partner in the firm of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP and spent almost forty years with the firm providing professional services to large multi-national companies. In addition, he served in various global and US leadership roles in the firm, including serving as a member of the firm's Board of Partners and Principals. Jim started his career in Charlotte and relocated over the years to the firm’s offices in Memphis, Houston, Dayton/Cincinnati, Minneapolis, New York and San Jose. In addition, he spent considerable time serving a major client of the firm in Japan. Jim retired from PricewaterhouseCoopers in 2009 and currently serves as a member of the firm’s Retired Partners Committee.

Jim served as President of the Alzheimer’s Association/Greater Houston Chapter and as the Treasurer of Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Greater Memphis and on the board of directors of these organizations as well as the National Conference of Christians and Jews - Memphis Chapter, the Japan/American Society of Houston and the School of Advanced Research. Jim is a member of the board of the Museum of New Mexico Foundation and the Cancer Foundation for New Mexico where he serves as treasurer of both organizations. He recently became a member of the Audit Committee of the New Mexico State Investment Council. Jim graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 1970 with a BS in Accounting and served on the Advisory Board for the School of Accounting. He was a Certified Public Accountant from 1973 until his retirement. Jim and his wife, Gail, reside in Santa Fe where they have maintained a home for over 20 years.
 

Medora Jennings, Board Member
A resident of Santa Fe, Mrs. Jennings has served on the Boards of the Friends of Martha Graham in New York, the Greenwich Academy in Connecticut, the Chamber Orchestra of Albuquerque, and Dance, Inc. (formerly Ballet West of New Mexico) where she was chairman for three years. She was Co-Chair of the Santa Fe Opera Gala and President of the Greenwich Academy Alumni Association. Currently, she is a member of the Board of Regents of George Washington’s Fredericksburg Foundation, established to preserve Washington’s boyhood home and maintain the Kenmore Plantation and Garden, home of Washington’s sister, Betty Washington Fielding-Lewis. Mrs. Jennings attended Goucher College in Baltimore, and is owner of Medora Jennings Interiors, Inc. and former owner of Talaya Joint Ventures.

Linda DiPaolo Love, Board Member
Ms. DiPaolo Love grew up on the east coast and lived in New York City for many years before moving to Santa Fe with her husband Steve and their daughter Olivia in 1994. In her “previous life” in New York, Linda had a successful career as a TV commercial actress and print model, as well as selling a line of high fashion clothing to private customers. Upon arriving in Santa Fe, she quickly found a niche in the volunteer sector. Her contributions have included chairing school fund-raising campaigns and auctions and organizing performances by Margie Gillis and the Pilobolus Dance Troupe in Santa Fe to benefit SW C.A.R.E. Linda first became involved with NDI-NM during the 1999 Gala as a committee member. She chaired both the 2001 and 2002 NDI-NM Galas. Linda is a lifelong equestrienne and has competed at the F.E.I. level in dressage. Horses are a passion she shares with her daughter. When not doing Board work, or taking Spanish lessons, Linda can usually be found at the barn. She is currently training a young horse, and during the school year she rides her daughter’s upper level horse as well.

Barbara Moore, Board Member
Barbara grew up in a small Louisiana town and attended college in Houston where she met her husband, Chuck. After receiving a degree in English and History, she taught in the Houston Public School System for ten years. In the mid eighties, they moved to New York City where she pursued a life-long interest in fashion at Bergdorf Goodman. In 1999, she was awarded the Bergdorf Goodman Chairman's Club Award for "excellence and exceeding expectations in customer relations and service.” While in New York City she was also instrumental in the formation of Moore Horizons, a commercial real estate consulting company specializing in mitigating investment risk on large commercial office buildings in the United States. She is a part owner of the company. After visiting in the summer months for several years, a permanent move was made to Santa Fe in 2009. In her desire to contribute to the community, Barbara has become actively involved with the Santa Fe Opera, SITE Santa Fe and, most recently, NDI-NM. Barbara is an avid reader with a passion for music, art, and architecture.

Carrie Terrell, Board Member
Carrie Terrell is a native of Albuquerque, New Mexico, where she lived until she left for University, in 1990. Carrie was a classical ballet dancer throughout high school and her freshman year of college. Carrie attended Texas Christian University where she met her Husband, Brian. After University, Carrie moved to New York City where she had a successful career as the Footwear Buyer for all of the Polo/ Ralph Lauren Retail Stores and the Factory Outlet Stores. Carrie was promoted to the Merchandising Office of Ralph Lauren where she helped develop the Strategic Planning of the footwear line from a financial and a design perspective. She acted as a liaison between Mr. Lauren’s office and the designers to ensure that what went to Market each season reflected Ralph Lauren’s vision while meeting consumer’s demands. In August of 2000 Carrie left her career at Ralph Lauren to move overseas with her husband to pursue his career. For the past eleven years Carrie and Brian have lived in Montevideo, Uruguay; Caracas, Venezuela; Austin, Texas; Madrid, Spain; and Zurich, Switzerland. While living in South America and Spain, Carrie became fluent in Spanish and a devout student of Yoga.

Carrie and Brian have two children and have just recently moved back to Albuquerque. Carrie looks forward to giving back to the Albuquerque community which provided her with meaningful life-long relationships and opportunities.

Catherine Oppenheimer, Past Chair
Catherine Oppenheimer co-founded the National Dance Institute of New Mexico in 1994 (NDI-NM) and the New Mexico School for the Arts (NMSA) in 2010.

NDI-NM is a statewide arts education organization in New Mexico that has introduced thousands of New Mexico’s children to dance training and performance experiences as an effective catalyst for character development and artistic expression. NMSA is New Mexico’s first chartered residential high school for the performing and visual arts. NMSA is dedicated to arts mastery and academic excellence assisting passionate young artists in developing their full potential.

Ms. Oppenheimer danced with the New York City Ballet under the leadership of choreographers George Balanchine and Jerome Robbins, and with the Twyla Tharp Dance Company.

In 2008, Ms. Oppenheimer was honored by the MS Society of New Mexico with its Award of Distinction and by the New Mexico Committee of the National Museum of Women in the Arts for her dedication to the arts. In 2005, the readers of The Santa Fe New Mexican named Ms. Oppenheimer to its annual “Ten Who Made a Difference” list.

Garrett Thornburg, Board Member
Garrett Thornburg is a recognized leader in innovative investment strategies. He is Chairman of the two Thornburg companies which he founded. Thornburg Investment Management,® (TIM) established in 1982, is an employee-owned investment firm with over $70 billion in assets* in nine fixed income and seven equity mutual funds which are also available to institutions and individuals as separate accounts. TIM is known for providing Strategies for Building Real Wealth. Thornburg Securities Corporation,® established in 1984, is a broker/dealer firm that distributes Thornburg Mutual Funds.

Prior to moving to Santa Fe in 1982, Mr. Thornburg was employed at Bear, Stearns & Co., where he was a Limited Partner and founding member of its public finance department. Prior to that, he was Chief Financial Officer of New York State’s Urban Development Corporation, where he was instrumental in restoring the company’s financial solvency and structured the development of the first building in Battery Park City. Mr. Thornburg also served as co-financial advisor to the State of New Mexico’s Board of Finance in its first bond refunding activity ever undertaken.

He holds a BA from Williams College and an MBA from Harvard University. He is a member of the Board of Governors of the Investment Company Institute (ICI) and serves on the Board of Directors of both the National Dance Institute of New Mexico and the New Mexico School for the Arts. Mr. Thornburg is a former board member of the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts (NAREIT), College of Santa Fe, Santa Fe Community Foundation, and the Santa Fe Institute. In 2004 on behalf of Thornburg Companies, Mr. Thornburg received the Association of Fundraising Professional’s Outstanding Business/Corporation in Philanthropy award. In 2010 Mr. Thornburg received the Journal Santa Fe’s Philanthropist of the Year Award. He enjoys his three sons, fly fishing, skiing, motorcycle riding, theater, and travel.

Paul N. Weaver III, Board Member

Paul is a Senior Vice President and Private Client Advisor with U.S. Trust, Bank of America Private Wealth Management. Paul has been with U.S. Trust and Bank of America for over 30 years and in banking for 34. As a Private Client Advisor, Paul spends time focusing on investment management, wealth structuring, banking and credit, and Trust services for his high net worth clients in the New Mexico, Colorado and El Paso markets. Prior to leading U.S. Trust’s private wealth management group, he led various areas of the bank including branch management, credit card, human resources, float management, ACH and corporate services management, check processing management, product management, treasury management, commercial credit and sales. In June, 2007, Paul was named interim Market President of El Paso, TX for Bank of America.

Paul holds a Bachelor of Science degree from McMurry University in Abilene, Texas and a Banking School diploma from Western States School of Banking at the University of New Mexico’s Anderson School of Management. Paul is a Registered Representative through FINRA, licensed for Series 7 and 66. He’s completed numerous sales, banking and management post graduate courses. In addition, Paul has also served as an instructor for banking, management and sales courses throughout his career, most recently on the national Global Commercial Banking sales team with Bank of America. Paul has earned the CTP (Certified Treasury Professional) designation from the Association for Financial Professionals and the CCP (Certified Compensation Professional) designation from the ACA.

Paul is a board member and Chairman of New Mexico Educational Assistance Foundation (New Mexico Student Loans), a board member of the Albuquerque Museum Foundation and the New Mexico Family Business Alliance and a board member and Treasurer of New Life Bible Ministries. He is also a former board member of many other organizations, including Rio Rancho Economic Development Corporation, Albuquerque Civic Light Opera Association and United Way of Central New Mexico and is active in United Way’s Planned Giving Council and Community Fund efforts.

Robert Worcester, Board Member
Bob is a member at the firm Worcester & McKay, P.C. where he practices in the areas of Estate Planning; Probate; Taxation; Real Estate Law. He was admitted to the bar in 1972, Texas; 1973, Illinois; 1975, U.S. Tax Court; 1977, New Mexico. Bob attended law school at the University of Texas, J.D., 1972; New York University, LL.M. in Taxation, 1973 and college at the University of Illinois. He holds memberships in the following organizations: State Bar of New Mexico (Member, Taxation Section); State Bar of Texas; American Bar Association (Vice-Chair, G4 Liaison with State and Local Bars Committees of the Probate and Trust Division, 1993-1996; Member: Committee on Agriculture, Taxation Section, 1982-1985; Committee on Special Problems of Community Property Owners, Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section, 1981-1985); Santa Fe Estate Planning Council (President, 1995-1996). Bob also serves on various charitable boards, namely, Veritas Foundation, The Georgia O'Keeffe Foundation, Allan Houser Foundation, Peters Family Art Foundation, St. Michael's High School Endowment Committee, the Emeritus Council of the Santa Fe Community Foundation and The First Tee of Santa Fe. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of Los Alamos National Bank and currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bank. Bob and his wife live in Santa Fe.
