The Hiland Theater is a vibrant, safe, inviting space for children and families; a centerpiece in the revitalization of the entire Hiland neighborhood. This modernized facility is “home-base” for NDI New Mexico’s Albuquerque outreach and advanced training programs; it supports the training of teachers in our unique, award-winning methodology; and it brings together thousands of children from Bernalillo County elementary schools to perform onstage in a fully-equipped, 600-seat performing arts theater.
With this facility, NDI New Mexico is expanding the scope and size of our In-School and Summer Programs. We have launched a top-quality after-school program offering performing arts training in dance, music and theater. When fully operational, over 3,000 elementary school children and teachers and over 20,000 local audience members will be touched by NDI New Mexico’s performing arts, character-building, and healthy life-style programs.
With proven programs that increase academic performance, engage children in positive activities, unite family and community, and inspire hard- work and self-confidence, The Hiland Theater will be part of the solution for Albuquerque’s youth.
There are currently 88 elementary schools in the Albuquerque Public School district with 19 of those schools on our waiting list.
