Attendance

  • Attendance is taken within the first five minutes of every class. If you arrive 5 minutes late, you must check in with the SPA office. A student who misses more than 6 classes within the school year or is consistently late may not be allowed to participate in classes/performances. If your child must miss class, please call the SPA office at 795-7088, to notify them of the absence. Certain classes may be made up. Please check with the SPA office.

Student Assessment and Placement

  • NDI-NM reserves the right to move students to the appropriate class at any time during the year. Students are continuously evaluated throughout their participation in the SPA program. Students do not automatically move up to the next level each year as our program is based on ability and experience.

Shoes

  • Shoes can be purchased locally at KICKS (on Cerrillos Road) - all NDI-NM dancers recieve a 10% discount, as well as Target, Wal-mart, Payless, or online at www.discountdance.com.
  • Once a student outgrows their shoes, the SPA office will exchange those shoes for another size.  The shoes the student turns in must still be in good condition.

Tuition and Refunds

  • All tuition is due at the time of registration. Tuition refunds and credits will only be given within the first month of the school year or before the first day of summer classes.  No refunds or credits are given once this date has passed.

Rules

  • Students must be in accordance with the dress code at all times. If students are not in the dress code, they will receive a warning. If they are not in the dress code a second time, the teacher will ask them to watch class that day. If they are not in the dress code a third time, they will be asked to leave class and return when they have the proper attire. For voice students, the same applies to bringing the music folder to class.
  • Students must be dropped off no earlier than 10 minutes prior to class time and must be picked up within 10 minutes after class and signed out by an adult. If a parent is unable to arrive during the 10 minute period, call the SPA office at 795-7088. NDI-NM reserves the right to call the emergency contacts on the registration form and then, if necessary, the police, for students who are not picked up in a timely manner.
  • All students under age 18 must be signed out by an adult at the time of departure. This procedure helps to ensure the child’s safety. Parents must enter the building. Students who drive themselves must have a waiver signed by the parent.
  • Friends or relatives not enrolled in SPA classes are not allowed to hang out on the NDI-NM premises, in or outside the building, at any time.
  • Parking is not allowed in the fire lane for any reason. Reckless driving or speeding the lot is strictly prohibited. Drivers violating these rules will be restricted from using the lot.
  • NDI-NM is a drug-free and smoke-free environment. Those found in violation of this policy will be removed from the program.
  • Harassment (bullying, sexual harassment, cyber-harassment, etc) of any student by any other student or parent is unacceptable. Those found engaging in such behavior will be removed from the program.
  • NDI-NM requires that students do not engage in self-injurious behaviors. Students found to be engaging in such behaviors may be removed from the program. The student’s safety is our primary concern and we take appropriate steps in response to concern about safety.
  • No food or drink is allowed in studios, lobby or dressing rooms. Food must be eaten in the Scene Shop.
  • Students must wear clothing over their dance attire when entering and exiting the building. It is recommended that students do not wear dance shoes outside because they are easily damaged.
  • Students who do not follow these rules may be dismissed from the program at any time. No refunds are given to students who are dismissed from the program.

Snow Days

  • Due to the fact that our classes are in the afternoon, SPA cannot follow the Santa Fe Public School Snow Cancellations (as those decisions are made in the early morning). The SPA phone, 795-7088, will be updated by 2pm with information regarding that afternoon’s classes. Please call the SPA line after 2pm and listen to the message. Please do not call the main NDI-NM line. The NDI-NM website will also post a notice regarding afternoon classes. Check the site at www.ndi-nm.org.

For more information about any of our classes, please contact Donna Scheer, SPA Director at donna@ndi-nm.org and Dayna Velasco, SPA Producer at dayna@ndi-nm.org or call (505) 795-7088.
