December’s cold and flu season is upon us!
Here are 5 tips to help you stay healthy

  1. Wash your Hands
Cold and Flu viruses enter our bodies through the eyes, nose and mouth when we touch our faces. Wash your hands often with soap and water, or use hand sanitizer! You can find hand sanitizer in every studio and in the Dance Barns office and lobby.
  2. Drink Lots of Water
Water flushes out your system, washing out the bad stuff and making room for the good stuff. Adults should drink at least 8 glasses per day, and kids should drink at least 5 glasses per day.
  3. Get your Zzzzzz’s!
A good night sleep improves your memory and keeps your immune system strong!
  4. Eat your Veggies
Make sure you eat a balanced diet including a rainbow of fruits and vegetables every day.
  5. Eat Yogurt
Studies have shown that eating a daily cup of yogurt can reduce your susceptibility to colds by up to 25%. Researchers think the beneficial bacteria in yogurt may stimulate production of immune system substances that fight disease.
  6. Go Outside and Play!
Fresh air is really important in the winter when we spend most of our time inside. Aerobic exercise speeds up your heart, makes you breathe faster, and transfers oxygen from your lungs to your blood. Put it all together and not only will you have fun, but you will increase your body’s natural defenses by breathing lots of fresh air!
