AirMail Dances

Remy Charlip was an American artist, writer, choreographer, theater director, theatrical designer, and teacher. He wrote or illustrated more than 40 children's books. While living in Paris in 1971 he created a piece that came to be known as AirMail Dances in which dancers from around the world would interpret 20-40 illustrated figures he would draw on paper and mail to them. This NDI New Mexico series is not quite Charlip’s idea, but it is our homage to his ingenious method of staying connected through dance across vast distances.

In preparation for class each week dancers will receive a small package in the mail with some activities and assignments to complete with a family member. Space for this class is limited to 20 students and dancers are asked to commit to the entire 5 class series.

If you are already registered for NDI New Mexico’s Winter Trimester then there is no additional registration fee required, simply fill in your mailing address and dancer information below.
