Dear NDI New Mexico Families and Friends,

On behalf of NDI New Mexico I would like to express our gratitude for the wonderful online experiences we’ve had this summer with hundreds of students from across the state, keeping them moving, laughing, learning, and creating at home. These summer programs were made possible by our partnership with parents, and because of the generosity of our supporters in the communities we serve.

We now look to the fall with hope and renewed dedication to the health well-being of our students and their families. To our partner schools around New Mexico, we will be offering a variety of hybrid online options, combined with in-person teaching when available. Our programs this year will be flexible and designed to support the social-emotional and academic goals that the schools have for this year. In keeping with CDC guidance and Governor Lujan Grisham’s public orders, we have decided not to fully open our facilities at The Dance Barns and The Hiland this fall. The majority of our Afterschool programs will continue to happen online through December. Classes will be offered for ages 3-18 in Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Modern, Hip Hop, and Creative Movement. Register for Fall2020 HERE All classes will be Pay What You Can to ensure that quality online dance education is affordable to all families.

We will be serving our SWAT and Celebration Teams through online rehearsals, working toward virtual and hybrid performances. Dance Barns and Hiland Advanced Companies will have the option of participating in our first in-person socially distant programming in very small groups with strict safety protocols, combined with their online rehearsals and classes. We are currently working on plans for many other exciting offerings for this fall, including:

  • Workshops and camps targeted for specific age groups and interests
  • Online master classes with national and international guest artists
  • Outdoor class/performance experiences
  • Video series for young children
  • Mail-home materials to support our online curriculum

We will have the plan in place for hybrid/in-person classes to expand next semester, if public health conditions indicate that it is safe to take that next step on a larger scale.

We hope that you will join us online this fall! Thank you for your support.

Sincerely,

Liz Salganek, Artistic Director
