NDI New Mexico Celebrates Its Eleventh Year in Hobbs with with Think! A Math-Magical Journey

Hobbs, NM – NDI New Mexico returns to Hobbs, NM for another year of teaching children excellence! From October 21 to October 25, approximately 115 fourth-grade students from Edison Elementary and Coronado Elementary are preparing to perform in NDI New Mexico’s Think! A Math- Magical Journey. This is NDI New Mexico’s eleventh year in Hobbs. Led by NDI New Mexico’s Residency Assistant Artistic Director, Christiana Barnett-Murphy, and Associate Music Director Brain Bennett, the curriculum of the one-week residency encourages healthy attitudes, self-discipline, and creativity – and provides students with an opportunity to perform in front of their peers and community.

This year, NDI New Mexico presents Think! A Math-Magical Journey – sharing a creative and fun take on math with children in Hobbs. The show and supporting curriculum will help students and classroom teachers make content connections between what they learn in the classroom to the concepts that students will be dancing about in their performances.

The Hobbs Residency is part of NDI New Mexico’s statewide Outreach Program, which places a certified instructor and professional pianist in classes in 118 schools throughout New Mexico as part of their curriculum. NDI New Mexico also trains classroom teachers to get students up and moving and incorporates kinesthetic techniques into language arts and math core curricula. All NDI New Mexico programs are character-building and use dance to teach an important life lesson – that working hard, doing your best, never giving up, and living a healthy life equals success.

The performance will be presented on Friday, October 25 at 12:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. at R.N. Tydings Auditorium, 1332 E. Scharbauer Street, Hobbs, NM 88240. Admission is free! Images are Available Upon Request.
