Young Children's Division
Winter trimester runs from January 11th through April 4th. In consideration for the safety of our young dancers, classes are currently completely online.
The Young Children's Division is enrolled according to your child’s age. This ensures that our students are learning in a positive environment surrounded by their peers.
Creative Movement (ages 3-4) gives the youngest dancer a joyful way to experience movement and music and build an early love of dance. Students explore rhythm, shapes, movement qualities, storytelling, and continue to develop motor skills, social skills and self-confidence.
Pre-Ballet (ages 5-6) introduces dance technique, vocabulary, and class etiquette, while continuing to joyfully explore movement and music.

Allegra began dancing in her home state of Texas and received further training in Boston, New York City and Canada. Dance has taken her throughout the U.S., Canada, and Asia. In her professional career, she was featured in solo and principal roles in the Atlanta Ballet, Ballet British Columbia, Ballet Hawaii, Hawaii Ballet Theatre, and the Oregon Ballet Theatre.
Allegra moved to Santa Fe in 1996 where she continued to perform and teach and/or choreograph for dance schools in and out of state. Allegra was the Founding Director of Dance for Joy, a local dance school that offered creative movement and ballet for all levels from 2004-2011. She also worked with NDI-NM as Master Teacher and Associate Artistic Director for a number of years and returned in 2011 as The Dance Barns Artistic Director where she held that position until August 2018.
Alyx “Allie” is a Las Cruces native and graduate of New Mexico State University’s Dance Program. In 2010, Allie moved to Albuquerque to pursue her dream job with NDI New Mexico where she’s held various roles for the organization including being an outreach instructor, choreographer, creative movement teacher, program producer, and director. She is most excited about her newest and most special dance student, her five-year-old daughter, Emiliana. Although teaching children statewide has been her passion for the last ten years, performing again recently with Enigma Dance Project has returned her to her favorite part of being an artist: dancing in front of an audience surrounded by her best friends!
